how to Cleaning Is  - Green Cleaning Tips

Cleaning and saving money is my passion. I love to make my non-toxic "green cleaning" products in my own home. Let me share with you some of the great finds, that I have found that make wonderful cleaning products. Best of all these are very inexpensive.

Vinegar: It's cheap and you will be amazed how well it will clean and deodorize your home. I always have a spray bottle of vinegar, and half water in cleaning caddy at home.

To clean windows, spray with half vinegar, half water. Wipe clean. (I always use a squeegee).

No-wax floors: Clean with a solution: 1 cup vinegar per gallon of water for a shinier surface.

To clean wood paneling or cabinet doors, use a mixture of 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/2 cup vinegar, and 2 cups warm water. Apply to paneling with a cloth. Dry with a cloth.

To remove odors from the sink or garbage disposal, pour in a cup or more vinegar. Let this set for at least an hour before you rinse.

Spray your shower walls and shower curtain with vinegar to prevent mildew.

To remove soap build-up from faucets, clean with this mixture of 1 part salt to four parts vinegar

Peroxide. It does more than clean cuts and wounds. It is also a wonderful inexpensive cleaning product.

Cleaning the toilet: Pour 1/2 a cup of hydrogen peroxide into the toilet bowl, let stand for 15 minutes, then scrub clean.

Whiten your bathtub. If you have a dirty bathtub, spray hydrogen peroxide on your tub. Let the peroxide sit awhile and bubble, then scrub clean.

Remove baked food from your pots and pans. Combine 3 parts baking soda to 1 part hydrogen peroxide. Rub the mixture on your pot or pan and let sit for a while. Later take a scotch brite sponge and some warm water. Rinse.

Cleaning sponges: Soak the sponges for 10 mins in a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and then rinse with water. (This is a great idea for cleaning sponges! But I don't normally use sponges in my home or work. They hold a lot of germs. So if you must use them. Please make sure you disinfect them.)

When wiping out the refrigerator and dishwasher. Hydrogen peroxide is non-toxic so it is great for cleaning the dishwasher. Spray the inside and the outside of your appliance and let the solution set for 5 mins, then rinse well with warm water.

Clean your cutting board and counters: When cleaning your cutting board and countertops. Hydrogen peroxide will disinfect any bacteria. Let the peroxide set for a while and bubble, then wipe and rinse well with warm water.
Baking Soda. The must have cleaning product. I keep a container of baking soda, scented with essential oils in a cleaning caddy at home.

To remove scents from a carpet, sprinkle with baking soda. Let stand for at least fifteen minutes. Vacuum. This is also great for pet beds.

To clean surfaces, sprinkle baking soda on a damp cloth. Wipe, then rinse with clean water.

Baking soda will keep away garbage odors; Sprinkle the bottom of the can, and then sprinkle again after you put a new bag in.
For all those stubborn stains in the bathroom: Baking soda solution. (4 parts baking soda, one part water)
To avoid clogged drains, pour 1 cup baking soda down monthly. Rinse with hot water.
